My name is James Hines. I am a self-taught product designer who thrives on making order out of chaos. I bring fledgling concepts to life by being curious, balancing need for scale and versatility with focus on real-world impact to customers.
When I'm not designing, I balance my life with creative outlets in photography, bird watching, and drinking copious amounts of coffee.

What is good design?
Pure.
Good design is focused. It doesn't try to be what it isn’t. It sends a message, one that isn't diluted.
Logical.
Good design is thoughtful. It speaks through universals. It functions intuitively.
Honest.
Good design is truthful. It does not lie. It does not deceive. It is transparent.
What is my world view?
As a creator I'm constantly reminded that my designs are simply a remix of what is the grand design. God is the original designer. My thoughts are simply representations and alterations of what has already been envisioned by Him in creation. So when my work is credited to me, all I can do is point to the real, original designer, the one I simply imitate.
